Why I am Obsessed with Black Movie Posters & Why You Should be as Well!

Over the last 8 days I have researched the words “Black Film”, Black Cinema, “Black Movies & Negro Cinema”. I started with “Google Trends” and then proceeded to start beating up the Google search engine.
The motivation stemmed out of my lack of understanding concerning the lack of black representation in film. When it comes to watching a black romantic comedy or a black film that is positive and uplifting to my standards, it seems to be missing.
Blacks are heavily involved in consumer media but lack those identity driven movies/shorts/documentaries that helps to facilitate our sense of belonging.
And the only identity driven narrative that captured my attention were “Black Movie Posters”. There is something powerful about that “Paid in Full” Movie poster that features Wood Harris, Cam, Ron, and Mekhi Phifer.
Not only is the movie a classic depiction of our American Dream, but it’s a clear vision about the product that we are truly selling to the world.
Identity & Story
As Black Men in America our identity has always been wrapped up in our struggles. We have always craved Community, Healing, Freedom, Economic Security & Peace.
